Yesterday, the new AQUA law was published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Andorra (BOPA). This legislation introduces significant changes to strengthen institutional independence and improving transparency in its actions.
The new legal text provides clearer regulations regarding the appointment process for the Agency's director position. Additionally, it establishes the Agency's Advisory Council, a consultative body designed to bring an expert and diverse perspective to strategic decision-making, thereby enhancing the quality and transparency of implemented policies. The new regulations also emphasize inclusion and representation by introducing the role of a student in the Evaluation Committee.
Finally, the composition of the Appeals Committee is being restructured by incorporating new members to bring fresh perspectives to the resolution of appeals. With these measures, the Agency reaffirms its commitment to transparency, independence, and the continuous improvement of its processes.
